B.M., M.M., Artist Diploma Berlin "Hanns Eisler" Music Academy

DAVID YONAN was born in Berlin, and after winning the Berlin youth competition at the age of 10, gave his recital debuts in Berlin, Moscow and St. Petersburg. At the age of 12 he made his orchestral debut at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, performing Henri Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No.2. At age 15 he came to the United States to study with renowned violin teachers, Roland & Almita Vamos, and Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School and the Aspen Music Festival. David has won prizes at numerous significant International Violin Competitions. He has made guest performances at major Music Festivals, including the Aspen, Bowdoin, Schleswig Holstein, Mecklenburg Vorpommern, and Cervo Music Festivals and solo performances with the Berlin Symphony, Nuremberg Symphony, Frankfurt Symphony, Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Potsdam Symphony, Minnesota Sinfonia, and Santiago de Chile Symphony Orchestras among others. He has performed for radio and TV productions for the German ARD and ZDF networks, Deutsche Welle TV, CBS, and the Chilean TV network. He has performed both as a soloist and recitalist in Germany, Italy, England, Denmark, Sweden, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Romania, Poland, Switzerland, and the U.S. and Antarctica. A champion of new music, David Yonan has worked with some of the most successful composers of our time, such as John Adams, Augusta Read Thomas and Arvo Pärt. David Yonan earned a M.M. and an Artist Diploma at the Berlin “Hanns Eisler” Music Academy, where he studied with Werner Scholz. He completed additional post-graduate education at Northwestern University and the Juilliard School, on a full scholarship. He is the founder/artistic director of the Fine Arts Music Society NFP, an organization to promote innovative Music Programming in a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary environment. In addition he has served as Music Director of the AUA Foundation since 2003 and is a board member of the Chicago Dance and Music Alliance. Starting in December 2006, the University Club of Chicago is presenting his Monday Night Rush Hour Concerts at the Tower Club of Chicago. His official website is: www.davidyonan.com.
