Rental Agreement

Rental Outfit:

Each rental outfit includes instrument, bow, case or bag, and rosin. Any rental outfit may be exchanged for another size outfit at any time. Any change in rental fees will be effective at the beginning of the next rental period.

Purchase Credit:

100% of the rental amount, less insurance fees and late payment charges, may be applied to up to 40% of the retail price of any violin or viola over $1,500, cello or bass over $3,000, or bow over $150 purchased from SEMAN VIOLINS. Purchase credit is not valid on outfits or rental inventory. Rental payments received more than 30 days after the due date will not be credited. The purchase credit option will be available for a period of 30 days after termination or suspension of the rental account. Rental credit can only be applied towards similar instruments (i.e. violin rental money goes towards violin/bow purchase).  Purchase credit may only be applied to sale instruments and bows.  It may not be applied to rental inventory.

Charges for the three-month rental period include an insurance fee of $15.00 for violin or viola, $25.00 for cello, and $40 for bass. The instrument will be fully covered against fire, theft, or accidental damage. Replacement of strings, bow re-hair, and other normal maintenance will also be provided under this policy.

Note: Damage to the instrument resulting from negligence, malicious abuse, loss, or unauthorized repair will void this contract, and the rental customer will be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement of the instrument. A $150 fee will be charged for catastrophic damage to violins and violas.  A $250 fee will be charged for catastrophic damage to cellos.  A $500 fee will be charged for catastrophic damage to basses. Any damage caused by adhesives is not covered by insurance. Instruments and bows are not insured by us if they are shipped, transported on an airplane, or left in an unattended vehicle.

Minimum rental period is three months. The first three months are non-refundable.  Payment is due on the first day of every third month. Fees for instruments rented more than 10 days after the first of the month will be pro-rated to the first of the following month, and thereafter due on the first day of every third month.

Late Payment:

Payment received more than 10 days after due date will be subject to a late payment penalty of $5.00. An additional $5.00 fee will be assessed for every ten days of non-payment.

Delinquent Accounts:

Delinquent accounts in excess of one full rental period (three months) breach rental agreement and all stated options. Instrument outfits must be returned, and all past due rental fees, penalties, and damage to instrument or accessories must be paid by rental customer. If Seman Violins turns account over for collection, or files suit for return of instrument or payment of past due rent and/or damage to the instrument, rental customer agrees to pay all collection fees, attorney’s fees, and court costs, in addition to rental fees, penalties, and damages. Criminal Theft charges may be filed with the police on accounts in breach of contract if instruments are not paid for and/or returned.
